PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a substrate catching means with structure suitable for manufacturing process of a large liquid crystal display element as well in consideration of scale increase of a liquid crystal display element. SOLUTION: This pasting device for liquid crystal display element is constituted by providing a vacuum chamber in which a pasting process between substrates is performed, an upper stage that fixes a second substrate, a lower stage that fixes a first substrate and the substrate catching means that is provided inside the vacuum chamber and moves along the carrying in/out directions of the respective substrates and that catches the bottom of the second substrate.
