摘要 <p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent an abnormal combustion such as an explosion of an exhaust gas discharged from a preheating chamber, when melting a cold iron source with the use of a melting facility having the preheating chamber of a shaft type, and to prevent generation of harmful components such as dioxins in the exhaust gas, and generation of a white smoke or an offensive odor. <P>SOLUTION: In the melting process with the use of an arc melting facility 1 which has a melting chamber 2 and the preheating chamber 3 of the shaft type directly connecting to the top thereof, and preheats the cold iron source 16 in the preheating chamber with an effluent gas generated in the melting chamber, this melting method is characterized by melting the cold iron source in the melting chamber by means of arc heating and supplying carbon materials and oxygen to the melting chamber, while supplying the cold iron source to the preheating chamber so as to keep the condition that the cold iron source exists in both the preheating chamber and the melting chamber; and by burning combustible components in the exhaust gas exhausted from the preheating chamber with an oxygen-containing gas or a burner 32, at the closest point to an outlet of the preheating chamber, to heat the exhaust gas to a predetermined temperature or higher, when a predetermined amount of the molten metal 17 is accumulated in the melting chamber, and the molten metal is tapped out, in the presence of the cold iron source in the melting chamber and the preheating chamber. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO</p>
