PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a drive mechanism for a snowmobile improved in steerage by disposing an engine in the center of a vehicle front part with a simple structure and allowing the mounting of a low engine height. SOLUTION: In this snowmobile 1, a nearly central part inside an engine room 30 formed in the vehicle body front part of the snowmobile 1 has the four-cycle engine 2 disposed with a cylinder head 4 in an upper part of the engine 2, and a steering post 25 having a steering 26 for steering the snowmobile 1 in an upper end part erectly disposed inside the engine room 30 at the rear of a vehicle travel direction of the engine 2 such that the steering 26 side is inclined rearward. A speed reduction mechanism 70 for decelerating an engine speed is provided in advance of the vehicle travel direction of the engine 2. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
