<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical unit satisfactory in reliability to external force and capable of being made thin in thickness, and to provide a liquid crystal display using the unit. <P>SOLUTION: A projected part 8 and a recessed part 9 to be mutually engaged into opposed sides are provided on each of a light transmission plate 1 and a mold frame 2, the light transmission plate 1 is stored in the mold frame 2 so that the projected part 8 is engaged into the recessed part 9 and the light transmission plate 1 is fixed to the mold frame 2 with the projected part 8. Consequently, since the bottom of the mold frame for mounting the light transmission plate is unnecessitated, the mold frame can be made thin in thickness, thus the thickness of the optical unit 20 can also be thinned. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
