PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve yield and efficiency of a sheet feeder delivering stacked sheets to a prescribed position one by one while preventing multiple feeding. SOLUTION: In this sheet feeder, the slack of sticking out portion generated when a sheet 12 is loaded with a prescribed amount of sticking out on an loading bed 13 is detected by a slack detecting means 19. The loading bed 13 or the like is raised by a moving drive means 17, or the movable amount for holding the sheet in the sucking pad 22 is controlled so that a drive control means 18 holds at least a slack tip part with the sucking pad 22 according to the amount of the slack.
