<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus by which the time reduction of the replacing work of each expendable part and the reduction of replacing frequency are attained and the whole quality is stabilized. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus 1 is provided with a charging unit 5, a developing unit 6, a transferring unit 7, a cleaning unit 8, and a fixing unit 9. The respective units in which the expendable parts of relatively short lives are incorporated so that setting of the replacing times of the respective expendable parts may be equal are provided with life extending means for extending the lives of the expendable parts.
