PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a toothed belt by which a special reinforcing member showing high stretchability need not be used, and the productivity can be improved without necessity to use a cylindrically molded reinforcing member and further, the width of the belt can be reduced by increasing the density of a core. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing a toothed belt comprises the steps to mold a toothed part 15 and a groove part 16 using a molding tool while thermally pressurizing a laminate 9 of a rubber sheet 1 and a reinforcing member 4 tightly bonded; and manufacture a preformed sheet 14 by tightly bonding the reinforcing member 4 to the surface of the toothed part 15 and the groove 16, and putting the preformed sheet 14 on the outer periphery of a mold 20 for vulcanization with a tooth form corresponding to the tooth part 15 and the groove 16 on the outer periphery of the mold 20, in such a way that the toothed part 15 faces inward. Further, the steps are taken to wind a core 32 around the outer periphery of the preformed sheet 14, then wind a rubber sheet 34 for a back part around the core 32 and vulcanize the rubber sheet 34.
