PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an artificial eye to perform emotional expression of high reality according to a pattern displayed on an electronic display element by using the electronic display element having a transparent projecting body so as to be as analogous to the eye of a living thing as possible, and a robot using the artificial eye. SOLUTION: The artificial eye performs emotional expression by the pattern display analogous to a natural eye according to the electric signal corresponding to the emotion by using the electronic display element having the transparent projecting body. Brightness of the pupil, the size of the pupil, the position of a lens, the opening degree of a lid, the shape of the lid or the like are simulated with high accuracy by the pattern displayed on the electronic display element.
