PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To fully preheat for securing a printing quality even under a low- temperature environment and to reduce a load at a software process of a CPU. SOLUTION: A pulse signal for controlling preheating with a width varied by a preheating circuit 30 is applied to a thermal head 50 by an instruction from the CPU 10 in accordance with the result of a printing environment temperature detected by a temperature sensing circuit 60.
