PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a detection method and a determination method for a toxin which use an enzyme activity-inhibition as an index, can effectively, simply, rapidly detect the toxin in high accuracy and inexpensively by using PP2A (protein phosphatase 2A) originating from Babylonia japonica (Reeve), and to provide a kit for the detection and a method for purifying the PP2A. SOLUTION: The method for detecting the toxin utilizes the enzyme activity- inhibition as the index, can detect shellfish toxins such as okadaic acids (OAs) or toxins such as of microsystins in samples by measuring the activity-inhibition of the PP2A, wherein the PP2A characteristically comprises the tissue of the Babylonia japonica (Reeve) as the enzyme source.
