PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nonaqueous secondary battery superior in a cycle characteristic in high temperatures. SOLUTION: Each surface 221a of a carbon particle 221 is made to have a constitution such that magnesium oxide regions (MgO) 221b exist spottedly. As a result, thermal stability of a coating which covers the surface of carbon particles constituting a negative electrode formed in the initial period of charge- discharge is improved, and the cycle characteristic in the high temperatures is improved. Furthermore, since the surface of the carbon particles is oxidized by a strong reducing power of the negative electrode, improvement of charge- discharge efficiency and impedance reduction or the like are caused.
