PEER-TO-PEER METHOD OF QUALITY OF SERVICE PROBING AND ANALYSIS AND INFRASTRUCTURE EMPLOYING SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new improved system and method for managing latency times between a plurality of peers in a network. SOLUTION: A peer-to-peer (P2P) probing/network quality of a service (QoS) analysis system utilizes a UDP (user data protocol)-based probing tool to determine the latency, bandwidth, and packet loss ratio between a plurality of peers in the network. The probing tool realizes network QoS probing between a plurality peers connected through a network address translator. A list of peers for probing is provided by a connection server on the basis of the prior probe result and estimation of network condition. P2P probing using a corrected packet-pair scheme in parallel is utilized. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
