PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent spontaneous discharge of a battery without need for any special operation when the battery is not used in a personal computer driven by the battery. SOLUTION: When the battery is not used, the battery 5 is shut off from each electric component receiving power from the battery 5 by inserting the insulating part of an insulating/conducting plate 7 between the battery 5 and each component. The operation for inserting the insulating/conducting plate 7 is interlocked with the operation of a power switch, or in the case of a personal computer having an automatic shutdown function, based on instruction of a circuit for instructing a shutdown, the battery 5 is shut off from each electric component by moving the insulating/conducting plate 7 by a loading motor 6.
