PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plasma display panel which suppresses occurrence of abnormal lighting of a cell caused by breaking of a partitioning wall due to vibration stress or shock stress which is caused by contacting among a back of a transparent dielectric plate which composes a front base plate and tops of the partitioning walls of a rear base plate over the whole area as the front base plate and the rear base plate are assembled together, and to provide a manufacturing method therefor. SOLUTION: Projections which is made of a transparent dielectric having a convex shape are formed at only the portions on a front base plate where horizontal black stripes and vertical black stripes cross each other. The projections contact with facing tops of the partitioning walls on the rear base plate. It is possible to avoid partial breaking of the partitioning walls near discharging areas because the projections are formed apart from the discharging areas. Consequently, the abnormal lighting of the discharging cell due to the breaking of the partitioning wall can be prevented. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
