PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotary switch which enables reasonable waterproof function. SOLUTION: The rotary switch is provided with a case 2 made of an insulating material (resin), whose under part is opened, and in an upper plane of whose inside a fixed contact member 1 is disposed, and a rotor 4 made of an insulating material (resin) which is contained inside the opening of the case 2 in a rotatable state, and which has a rotatable contact member 3 which contacts closely with the fixed contact member 1 or gets it off, in an upper plane of the rotor 4. A ring shape rib 5 formed on the upper plane of the rotor 4 peripherally, contacts closely with the upper plane of the inside of the case 2, and drain holes 6 are formed between a periphery of middle portion of the rotor 4 and its under plane facing outside. An upper peripheral plane of the rotor 4 contacts closely with an inner peripheral plane of the case 2, and this contacting itself has a function for preventing substantially intrusion of water into a space where the fixed contact member 1 and the rotatable contact member 3 are disposed. Therefore, the rib 5 is not essential. Disposition of the rib 5 is preferable because the prevention of water intrusion is improved by it.
