PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video signal output apparatus for obtaining high video characteristics in the case of no OSD display. SOLUTION: The video signal output apparatus for outputting a video signal on a display apparatus includes: a high frequency band amplifier section for amplifying the video signal at a high frequency band and outputting the amplified video signal to the display apparatus; an information signal generating section for generating an information signal; a superimposed video signal amplifier section for superimposing the information signal on the video signal, amplifying the superimposed video signal and outputting the amplified superimposed video signal to the display apparatus; and a control signal generating section for generating a control signal to control the high frequency band amplifier section and the superimposed video signal amplifier section. In order to realize the task above, when displaying the information signal on the display apparatus, the control signal generating section outputs the control signal to the high frequency band amplifier section to deactivate the high frequency band amplifier section, and when displaying no information signal on the display apparatus, the control signal generating section outputs the control signal to the superimposed video signal amplifier section to deactivate the superimposed video signal amplifier section.
