PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transmission screen in which unnecessary scattering on a scattering film is alleviated and brightness, vertical viewing angle and contrast are improved. SOLUTION: The transmission screen is characterized by having shapes of parts of the light scattering film with respectively different refractive indexes being longitudinally (or laterally) oriented with respect to a surface of the light scattering film and forming a dark and light pattern caused by ups and downs of the refractive indexes and further being made to have anisotropy of scattering by constructing the parts with the respectively different refractive indexes in such a way that they are distributed as layers inclined with respect to the film thickness direction.
