PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make an image pickup apparatus small in size, thin in thickness and light in weight, and moreover to facilitate its assembling and handling. SOLUTION: A CCD bear chip 12 for photoelectrically converting a light imaged by an imaging lens 4 provided to a holder 2 and outputting an image signal is mounted on a substrate 1. The imaging lens 4 is arranged to the holder 2 and its outer package has an aperture effect for shading surrounding light beams as a package 2A for shading external lights. The package 2A is provided with a circular hole 3 for permitting the light from a subject to be made incident on the imaging lens 4.
