PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a downsized inexpensive imaging apparatus capable of finder observation by an electronic viewfinder and automatic focus detection whose development has been desired on market. SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus is configured to comprise: a reflecting member 2 freely movable forward and backward to/from an imaging optical path; an imaging element 7 for applying photoelectric conversion to an optical image formed by lights reflected in the reflecting member placed in the photographing optical path; and a signal processing means 8 for using an output from a first pixel group to produce a finder image and for detecting a focal adjustment state of the imaging optical system 1 by using an output from a second pixel group among all pixels configuring the imaging element. Further, a focal optical system 4 is arranged in the vicinity of a scheduled imaging face of the light reflected in the reflecting member placed in the photographing optical path and a re-image forming optical system 6 is placed for re-imaging the light passing through the focal optical system, and the imaging element is placed at a re-image forming face by the re-image forming optical system.
