A safety release for an emergency door has a locking mechanism with a slider with several retaining profiles. The slider is operated either via a key or via a press bar. The lock mechanism is set so that the lock opens as soon as the door handle is pressed, i.e. the user does not have to press the handle fully to open the door in an emergency. Spring loaded drives retract the door catches as soon as the handle is pressed.
