The initializing method involves: bringing the anti-theft device into an initializing state; transmitting an interrogation signal; producing a random number on each code generator (1) receiving the interrogation signal (6), a respective emission time characteristic of the code generator considered being determined each time as a function of the random number; emitting a response signal (7) in the emission time limits; and analyzing the signal (7) in an analysis unit. The initialization method for an automobile anti-theft system involves; (a) using a transmitter/receiver unit (3,4) fitted in the vehicle, which is electrically connected to an antenna (4), fitted in or on the vehicle, by means of which a respective interrogation signal (8) is emitted; (b) using a portable code generator (1) which emits a response signal (7) to a previously received interrogation signal (6), coded data contained in the response signal indicates an enabling, and; (c) using a control and analysis unit (3) situated at the side of the vehicle, which is linked to the transmitter/receiver (3,4), which analyses the received response signal (7). |
