[Also in Division F2] A table roll 12 of a Fourdrinier machine is rotatably mounted on a hollow axle 10 by means of fluid bearings 14. Liquid is supplied to the bearings under pressure via the duct 26 and after passing through the bearings, flows into the space 19 between the roll and the axle. Radial projections 66 are provided on the interior surface of the roll and interact with the liquid to damp vibrations of the roll. Annular seals 30 are provided at each end of the roll 20 as to maintain the space 19 substantially full of liquid. |
