PURPOSE: A method for preparing thermal spray coating powder using steelmaking dust slag is provided to improve physicochemical properties by adding graphite to reduced dust slag having sorted particle size and improve corrosion resistance of the coating film by coating the reduced dust slag having sorted particle size with Kevlar. CONSTITUTION: The method for preparing spray coating powder using steelmaking dust slag comprises the steps of sorting reduced steelmaking dust slag per particle sizes; and adding additive to the reduced steelmaking dust slag, wherein graphite and metals including Ni, Co, Cr and W together with the additives are additionally added to the reduced steelmaking dust slag, wherein the method further comprises the step of adding polymer to the reduced steelmaking dust slag by cleaning the reduced steelmaking dust slag using polymer solution so that the polymer solution is coated on the reduced steelmaking dust slag, wherein a composition for the reduced steelmaking dust slag comprises 50 wt.% of C, 40 wt.% of Fe, 5 wt.% of SiO2, 3 wt.% of MsO and 2 wt.% of Al2O3, thermal spray coating is performed using an ordinary thermal spray coating facility after pretreatment blasting a matrix of metallic substrate having size of 10x10 cm¬2 under the conditions that distance between the matrix and spray coating gun is 10 cm, ejection speed of particles is 50 to 60 m/s, and temperature of flame is 3,100 deg.C.
