<p>A cleaning device 2 for the in situ cleaning of metal strings on a musical instrument comprises a manually bendable resilient laminate with a first planar portion 10 and an end portion 12 extending out of the plane of the first portion. Said laminate comprises a layer of plastics material substrate disposed entirely between two layers of plastics micro-fibre fabric, said fabric being preferably formed from a single sheet, and secured to the substrate by adhesive. The fabric comprises a mixture of polyester and nylon. The end portion 12 comprises a planar portion curved outwardly from the first portion. The angle of curve 14 between the two portions is approximately 150 {. In manufacture, the fabric is secured to the substrate, and an end portion of the resulting laminate is deformed to the desired shape, preferably using heat to allow the material to be bent, and then allowing the laminate to cool whilst bent to the desired shape.</p> |
