PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of producing metal oxide particulate-dispersed glass which has an optional shape. SOLUTION: A solution containing at least one kind of metallic compounds selected from the group consisting of organic acid metal salts, inorganic acid metal salts and complexes is added to a sol or a gel obtained by subjecting an organic solvent solution containing at least one kind of compounds selected from the group consisting of metal alkoxides and alkoxy silanes to hydrolysis. The obtained mixture is formed or is applied to a substrate, and the obtained formed body or applied substrate is heat-treated at 300 to 800°C, so that the oxide glass in which metal oxide particulates are dispersedly incorporated is produced.
