PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a carrying roller for a steel pipe, enabling a round steel pipe device such as an existing heat treatment device to be used for a square pipe. SOLUTION: This carrying roller for a steel pipe comprises two conic rotating elements, a base seat on which the rotating elements are plated so as to keep axes thereof parallel to each other and dispose end surfaces of the minimum diameter portions on a line orthogonal to the shafts or near the line, a driving device installed on the base seat and rotating the rotating elements, and a cylinder connecting to the base seat at a tip end and enabling the base seat to rotate about a center thereof in an angle range of 0 to 60°in a plane view.
