<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for recycling a heavy metal-containing substance by which heavy metals in the heavy metal-containing substance can be efficiently evaporated and separated without leaving chlorine components. <P>SOLUTION: A first substance containing one or more kinds of heavy metals and a second substance containing chlorine components are indirectly heated at 700-1,300°C to remove heavy metals evaporated from the first substance. It is preferable to collect dust after the gas containing chlorides of the evaporated heavy metals is quenched to make the heavy metal chlorides in dust-like state, and to remove chlorine components in the first substance in form of alkali chlorides by adding an alkali metal-containing substance to the first and the second substances. The indirect heating may be carried out while the first and the second substances being moved and the indirect heating of the first substance may be carried out in the presence of a chlorine type gas as the second substance. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO</p> |
