PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an ink jet recorder in which ink is prevented from leaking into the recorder due to removal of a waste ink container which can be loaded and removed directly from the outside. SOLUTION: The ink jet recorder performing recording by ejecting ink from an ink head to a print medium comprises a waste ink container 51 for storing waste ink being loaded removably to a waste ink container loading section 50 formed inward from a specified plane of the recorder body 14, and a control section 27 for disabling removal of the waste ink container 51 during removal prohibition period of the waste ink container 51.
