PURPOSE: A heater for heating a cathode of a cathode ray tube and a fabricating method thereof are provided to improve a characteristic of a withstanding voltage of an insulating layer and enhance mechanical intensity of an alumina sintering body by composing contents of aluminium and tungsten of a blackening layer of a heater. CONSTITUTION: An alumina insulating layer is coated on a surface of a heating line. A blackening layer including tungsten and alumina is coated on an upper face of the insulating layer. A heat-sink type heater is formed by sintering the coating layer of the blackening layer. The content of the alumina for forming the blackening layer is larger than the content of the tungsten for forming the blackening layer. A ratio of the contents of the alumina and the tungsten for forming the blackening layer is 1.0 : 1.0 to 2.0. A mean diameter of particles forming the blackening layer is 0.1 to 2 micro meter. The sintering process is performed under temperature of 1400 to 1500 degrees centigrade.
