The incineration of volatile organic compounds of exhaust gases involves thermal degradation to give carbon dioxide and water, in an incineration chamber containing products heat treated during incineration of the volatile organic compounds received from a heat treatment furnace. Also claimed is apparatus implementing the process. An Independent claim is included for an apparatus for use in the above method, whose chamber is heated internally and permits circulation of a volume of gas greater than that required for heat treatment of the materials contain within. It also includes a furnace polluted gas circulation pipe.
