PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-efficiency and long-life luminous element capable of realizing a low power consumption, excellent in abrasion resistance and friendly to global environment and space environment. SOLUTION: With a phosphorescent luminous element having at least an electrode, a luminous layer containing a host material and a phosphorescent material, and a hole block layer, a high-efficiency and long-life luminous element is realized by providing a layer made of the host material on an interface of the luminous layer and the hole block layer.
