SUPERCONDUCTING CABLE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a superconducting cable with cable cores whose thermal contraction can be absorbed independently of the thermal contraction percentage of a spacer material itself combined with the cable cores. SOLUTION: The superconducting cable comprises a spacer 10 and three superconducting cable cores stranded around the spacer 10 at its outer periphery. The spacer 10 is formed with a diameter having a thermal contraction amount larger than that of a spacer component material itself during cooling. The spacer consists of a tube 20 filled with gas and a hollow winding 30 having a spaced element wire spirally wound on the outer periphery of the tube. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
