PURPOSE: A system for managing power consumption of a display is provided to separately operate hardware and software to reduce unnecessary power consumption. CONSTITUTION: A system for managing power consumption of a display includes a host signal detection/control unit(12), a host signal transmitter(13), a web terminal processor(14), a TV processor(15), and a video/audio signal output unit(16). The host signal detection/control unit detects a signal transmitted from a host computer to a display to judge Internet processing through a web terminal, TV watching through a TV or output of operation of the host computer and outputs a control signal according to the judged result. The host signal transmitter outputs video/audio information inputted from the host computer according to the control signal. The web terminal processor processes a user's Internet surfing through the web terminal according to the control signal. The TV processor processes user's TV watching through the TV. The video/audio signal output unit selectively receives video/audio information from the host signal transmitter, web terminal processor and TV processor to display the received video/audio information through a display(17).
