<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a driving method of a cathode capable of switching the cathode with high precision without generating axis shift of an electron beam, capable of prolonging the life of the cathode while keeping a focus property of the electron beam, enabling the cathode to have high brightness and high resolution. <P>SOLUTION: A plurality of electron emitting parts 1, 2 constituting the cold cathode are arranged adjacent to an electron emitting position where electrons are emitted, and a plurality of electron emitting parts are moved and selectively located at the electron emitting position, the electron emitting parts are driven by switching. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO</p> |
