PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method to judge the deteriorated condition of a secondary battery by repeating the charging and discharging frequently. SOLUTION: The judging method for deterioration of a secondary battery consists of such procedures that a unitary charge-discharge cycle consisting of current discharge, pause after interruption of discharging, charging of current, and pause after interruption of charging is performed to the secondary battery for a certain period of time in one cycle or a plurality of cycles continuously, the voltage difference in the final charge-discharge cycle between at interruption of discharging and at interruption of charging is determined, and that the obtained voltage difference is compared with the preset value to serve for judgement of the deteriorated condition of the secondary battery. Because measurement of the polarization voltage is made by subjecting the battery to charging and discharging in accordance with the unitary charge-discharge cycle for a certain specified period of time, it is possible to perform judgement in a short time.
