The invention provides a device for mounting a safety barrier, comprising a mounting member arranged, in use, to cooperate with a portion of a fence defining a racetrack, the mounting member being movable between a first, operative configuration in which a safety barrier can be mounted to the mounting member, and a second, stowed configuration in which the mounting member comprises at least one dimension smaller than in the first configuration. The invention further provides methods of mounting safety barriers across a racetrack, whether behind the starting stalls or the racetrack or infront of the starting stalls of the racetrack.
