The armature (4) is drawn to approach one of the two electromagnets (8, 9). Current supplied to the electromagnet is sufficient to suspend the armature over a pole face (12, 13). It is held in this position until current is supplied to the electromagnet in the opposite direction. An Independent claim is included for the corresponding controller.
