PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an engine 100 and an operation control device 30 of the same which maintain a stable operation condition by previously preventing knocking even when a composition of fuel G is changed. SOLUTION: A characteristic value detecting means 31 for detecting a characteristic value relating to an anti-knocking property of the fuel G supplied to a combustion chamber 5, and an operation value setting means 32 for setting an operation value of the engine on the basis of a detection result of the characteristic value detecting means 31 so as to maintain stable operation.
