The hinge assembly is for the swing link between two units (1;2,3) and especially a housing flap (2,3) of a butter compartment (1). The facing plate sections (6,7) of the units are aligned together by a lateral swing axis through them. A keyed body (12) with an elastic section is in the gap between the plate sections and the compartment (1), which is distorted on a swing action.
