<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a carbon monoxide removing apparatus where, the formation of carbon monoxide at an oxidation catalyst layer is inhibited when a flow rate of a hydrogen-rich gas is not more than a rating. <P>SOLUTION: In the carbon monoxide removing apparatus for oxidizing and removing carbon monoxide, when the flow rate of the hydrogen-rich gas is not more than the rating, the water concentration of the hydrogen-rich gas introduced into the oxidation catalyst layer is made higher than that of the hydrogen-rich gas generated at a hydrogen generating device and is made higher as the flow rate of the hydrogen-rich gas decreases. The increase in the water concentration inhibits the oxidation reaction of carbon monoxide on the oxidation catalyst layer, and the capacity of the oxidation catalyst layer is not excessive for the amount of a reactant even when the flow rate of the hydrogen-rich gas is not more than the rating. Thus, the formation of carbon monoxide due to the reverse shift reaction can be inhibited. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
