PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a resin composition for coating optical fiber capable of high speed coating, being soft and having excellent dynamic fatigue characteristics and lateral pressure characteristics and to provide the optical fiber coated with the resin composition. SOLUTION: The resin composition for coating the optical fiber contains a monofunctional radically polymerizable urethane (meth)acrylate oligomer (A) obtained by reacting a polyether compound (a) represented by formula R<SB>1</SB>-O(R<SB>2</SB>O)n-H (wherein R<SB>1</SB>represents an aliphatic hydrocarbon group inactive to a radioactive ray, R<SB>2</SB>represents an alkylene group and n represents an integer of two or more), a polyisocyanate compound (b) and a (meth)acrylate compound (c) having active hydrogen reacting with the isocyanate compound with each other and a multifunctional radically polymerizable (meth)acrylate oligomer (B).
