<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lateral collision shock preventing device capable of allowing the impact force from the side of the vehicle body in the event of lateral collision to be applied to an occupant upon being relieved and protecting the human body safely by reducing the shock thereto at lateral collision. <P>SOLUTION: The lateral collision shock preventing device is structured so that the shock applied to the side of the vehicle such as side door in the event of lateral collision of the vehicle (a collision to the side of the vehicle concerned) owing to the collision is relieved to reduce the impact force to be applied to the occupant in the cabin, wherein the arrangement includes a lift mechanism to lift the vehicle body side of a seat cushion upward at the time of lateral collision and move the occupant toward the center of the vehicle and a lift mechanism control device to actuate the lift mechanism when it receives a collision sensing signal from a collision sensor which senses a collision of the vehicle. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
