<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To always obtain high quality image by preventing degradation in control accuracy of a transfer bias caused by changes in film thickness of each image carrier. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus 100 has photoreceptor drums 1Y, 1M, 1C, and 1Bk capable of holding toner images thereon, transfer rollers 5Y, 5M, 5C, and 5Bk for transferring the toner images on the corresponding photoreceptor drums onto a transfer material P by transfer biases applied between the corresponding photoreceptor drums and transfer rollers, transfer bias power sources 32Y, 32M, 32C, and 32Bk which apply transfer biases between the photoreceptor drums and the transfer rollers, sensors 20Y, 20M, 20C, and 20Bk which detect amounts of wear of the corresponding photoreceptor drums, and a CPU 35 which sets correct values of the transfer biases which are applied by the transfer bias power sources, based upon the integrated values of the amounts of wear detected by the corresponding sensors. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
