<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture a grain-oriented electrical steel sheet in high yield by effectively reducing the edge cracking at hot rolling which is liable to occur in the case where an inhibitor-free slab is heated at a temperature as low as <1,250°C. <P>SOLUTION: In applying slab heating to the inhibitor-free slab at a temperature as low as <1,250°C in the manufacturing process of the grain-oriented electrical steel sheet, the maximum value T' among T<SB>i</SB>' computed from equation T<SB>i</SB>'=ΔT<SB>i</SB>×(1-R÷100)÷D<SB>i</SB>is made to ≤10.0°C/m when D<SB>i</SB>(m), ΔT<SB>i</SB>(°C) and R (%) represent each skid interval in the above slab heating step, a temperature difference in the skid interval on the delivery side at roughing and a draft at hot roughing, respectively. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
