PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem in a roller for guiding a rope or a wire rope, wherein discontinuous parts such as a shackle and a ring for connecting these ropes come in contact with a sheave of the roller to impede smooth hoisting and to cause the danger of jumping or the like. SOLUTION: In the roller for guiding the rope or wire rope, the discontinuous parts such as the shackle and ring for connecting these ropes come in contact with the sheave of the roller to impede smooth hoisting and to cause the danger of jumping or the like. Three small rollers are arranged in a triangle instead of the sheave of the guide roller, and all of three small rollers are rotated to work as the guide roller without causing jumping or the like.
