PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lens barrel used for an optical devices such as an electronic camera and a microscope which is smaller than a conventional lens barrel. SOLUTION: In the lens barrel having a focus motor and a zoom motor for driving a photographic lens and a shutter motor and a diaphragm motor for driving an internal mechanism, the motors are arranged, respectively in a first to a fourth quadrants obtained by dividing a flat surface orthogonal to the optical axis of the photographic lens with a first axis and a second axis which are orthogonal to the optical axis and to each other. Notched parts for making the central axes of rotation of the focus motor and the zoom motor pass are formed at the base of a shutter unit. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
