An apparatus for making strips (ST) of fibre-containing rubber (FR) is disclosed, wherein the short fibres in each of the strips are oriented in the widthwise direction of the strip. The apparatus comprises: a screw section (2) for pushing out a fluid mixture of unvulcanised rubber and short fibres as fibre-containing rubber; an orienting section (3) comprising a radially extending path (32) provided with an inlet in the centre thereof and a looped nozzle (33) on the periphery thereof so that the fibre-containing rubber is expanded circumferentially while flowing radially from the centre towards the periphery; and a dividing section (4) comprising a plurality of cutters (6) arranged around the looped nozzle (33) so that the fibre-containing rubber extruded from the looped nozzle is circumferentially divide into a plurality of strips (ST). <IMAGE>
