PURPOSE: A mode control device is provided to allow the lamp to be turned on and maintained in a convenient manner, while maintaining the turn-on time and brightness of lamp constant and lengthening the useful life of the lamp. CONSTITUTION: A mode control device comprises a resistor connected in serial to a current source and which divides the voltage supplied from the current source; a condenser for charging/storing the current passed through the resistor; a differential amplifier for controlling flow of the current by comparing the voltage divided by the resistor and the voltage value of the current charged in the condenser; and a pulse width modulation unit for receiving the current transmitted from the differential amplifier and generating a pulse signal having a frequency corresponding to the current.
