PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a grinder that corrects a grinding wheel position referring to work thickness measured during grinding and certainly provides work having a desired thickness. SOLUTION: This grinder has the grinding wheel facing the surface of the plate-like work and grinds the surface of the work. The grinding device comprises a work thickness measuring means for measuring a thickness of the work during the grinding, a grinding wheel position detecting means for detecting a moving position in the cutting in direction of the grinding wheel grinding the work, a detecting means for detecting an amount of a grinding wheel abrasion based on the thickness information from the work thickness measuring means and positional information from the grinding wheel position detecting means, and a movement controlling means for controlling the movement of the grinding wheel while correcting the grinding wheel position using the amount of the grinding wheel abrasion detected by the detecting means.
