PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and apparatus for molding thermoplastic resin foam capable of obtaining a blow molded article comprising a foamed resin having uniform cells and capable of controlling an expansion ratio. SOLUTION: A parison P is molded from a plasticized thermoplastic resin when the thermoplastic resin foam is molded and mounted in the cavity 2a of a mold 2. After the mold is clamped, inert gas is blown in the parison to be injected and infiltrated in the parison and, thereafter, the gas pressure of the inert gas in the parison is released.
